Apply on Unity’s site →The opportunity We are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test with Android expertise to join the Automation and Tooling Team. Our team consists of Software Development Engineers in Test spread across two locations in Europe, working collaboratively across sites and time zones.
You will join a team responsible for the test infrastructure underpinning Unity s continuous integration. The team builds and maintains CI pipelines across a wide range of platforms - desktop, mobile, consoles, and embedded systems - ensuring that Unity s engine and editor are thoroughly tested before every release.
You will work closely with the team s existing Android platform owner to strengthen Unity s Android test infrastructure - spanning physical device fleets, emulator pipelines, and the tooling that ties them into Unity s CI system. You will contribute to the technical direction for Android CI, collaborate with development and platform teams across Unity, and help ensure Android test pipelines run reliably across all release streams.
What you ll be doing Working alongside the current Android platform owner to expand and strengthen Android test infrastructure across Unity s CI system Contributing to the design and maintenance of CI pipelines for Android devices and emulators, ensuring coverage across Android versions, GPU vendors, and device form factors Participating in Android device fleet strategy - evaluating new devices, planning upgrades, handling device lifecycle and compatibility Building and improving tools and frameworks for Android test automation, including ADB-based device interaction, emulator management, and test execution Troubleshooting complex, failing CI scenarios across code and infrastructure, including device-specific issues, driver compatibility, and platform-level regressions Driving engineering best practices within the team and contributing to cross-team technical decisions Working cross-team and cross-site with development teams, graphics teams, and platform teams to coordinate test infrastructure changes Mentoring less experienced team members and contributing to code quality through thorough code reviews Utilizing AI tools such as Claude to boost productivity in analysis, automation, and problem-solving What we re looking for Experience with Unity and its usage Knowledge of Unity test frameworks and testing methodologies Knowledge of Unity-supported platforms, with depth in Android Knowledge of Android phones, including ADB connectivity, device provisioning, emulator configuration, Android SDK/NDK tooling, and device fleet management Experience with CI/CD systems, for example Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar Programming experience in C#, with secondary experience in Python Experience with or knowledge of AI tools usage, such as Claude, for development productivity A track record of contributing to a technical domain and driving improvements independently An analytical mindset with the ability to debug issues across code and infrastructure layers A team player who thrives in a collaborative, cross*site environment An agile mindset with a structured approach to tracking work, for example using Jira You might also have Experience with Android emulator infrastructure (AVD configuration, virtualization, custom images) Experience working with Android Studio / Google Firebase Lab Familiarity with scripting in Bash or PowerShell Experience with development supporting tools such as Git, code review workflows, and project management tools as Jira Experience mentoring engineers or driving technical standards within a team Salary: 54,200.00 - 67,800.00 EUR per year This range reflects the anticipated base salary for this position. Beyond base salary, this role may be eligible for equity awards and participation in our company incentive plans (such as annual discretionary bonuses or sales commissions). The final offer amount will depend on several factors, including geographic location and the candidate’s relevant experience, professional background, and skill set.
