"description": " LEGO Digital Play will bring the LEGO brand into digital entertainment in new, innovative, and wholly-owned ways. Our mission is to ensure the LEGO Brand remains as powerfully a part of children’s lives in the coming decades as it has ever been. We aim to reach every kid on the planet, their parents, and adult fans of LEGO - and provide them with meaningful, magical, and playful new experiences.
We are at the earliest phases of this new company, offering a unique opportunity to build a new entity for the world s most beloved and trusted brand. Our culture is open, collaborative, intellectually rigorous, and creatively vibrant.
We’re creating the role of VP, Head of Trust Safety: the most senior Trust Safety role at LEGO Digital Play, and the single point of accountability for getting it right. You’ll define the standard we hold ourselves to, build the conviction across the company to meet it, and hold the authority to stop anything shipping that falls short.
This is a newly created role based in London, reporting to the President, LEGO Digital Play. Game teams remain accountable for the safety of their own games. You will set the standard they work to, partner with them closely at the decisions that matter, and carry the final call on trust and safety grounds.
You’ll shape what this function becomes — how trust and safety is structured, resourced and embedded across LDP — and you’ll do it hands-on. You’ll begin without direct reports, authoring the standards and reviewing the work yourself, and grow the team deliberately as our portfolio grows with it.
You’ll be equally comfortable as a thought leader and an operator: setting a direction the industry pays attention to, then sitting with General Managers and design leads to work it into their games.
Key Responsibilities Set the LDP player safety standard Work closely with experts at The LEGO Group to establish the brand s baseline requirements / principles for Trust Safety Define and own the standard LDP holds itself to, including how far beyond regulatory compliance we choose to operate and what best in class means for a company built on children’s play.
Represent LDP’s position on trust and safety externally, with regulators, industry bodies and partners.
Accountability and launch authority Act as the single point of accountability for trust and safety at LDP.
Hold the authority to withhold approval for a launch on player trust safety grounds, applying judgment on where the line falls between bold creative choices and unacceptable risk.
Partner with game teams Work directly with General Managers and design leads at key decision points, helping teams balance fun and safety across gameplay, community, social, commercial and other experiences.
Embed safety by design across LDP Build genuine understanding of what safety by design means in practice, so teams design for it by instinct rather than treating it as a review gate.
Raise the baseline safety literacy of game teams through education, onboarding and everyday partnership.
Decision frameworks and playbooks Author the risk rubrics, launch checklists and escalation paths teams work from, so common decisions can be made well without you in the room.
Direct the safety tooling roadmap Set the requirements and priorities for LDP’s safety tooling based on aggregate need across the portfolio, and lead that capability as it grows.
Incident ownership and portfolio pattern recognition Run the end-to-end process for live incidents: triage, cross-team coordination, root-cause analysis, and feeding the lessons back into the standard and the tooling.
Spot safety issues recurring across games before they become systemic, and push fixes upstream so a single intervention covers many titles.
Shape the function Define how trust and safety is organised, resourced and delivered at LDP, and build the team as the portfolio matures.
Qualifications Must have A recognised senior leader in player or online safety, with the standing to be LDP’s definitive voice on the subject internally and externally.
Senior experience in the development and/or operations of live games or digital products with social, community and/or multiplayer features for a young or mixed-age audience, including navigating live incidents.
A track record of defining a company’s safety position, rather than implementing someone else’s.
Enough product and design fluency to be credible in the room with General Managers and game leads, so teams treat your input as valid craft support.
Persuasive with sceptics, and able to make the case for safety by design convincingly at every level — from the leadership team to an individual designer.
Genuinely hands-on, and content to author the documents and review the designs personally rather than through a team.
Able to lead through a matrix, carrying real decision authority alongside few direct reports.
Fluent in both policy and engineering language — able to read a regulation and draft a set of product requirements in the same afternoon, and translate accurately in both directions.
Strong judgment on where to draw the line between bold creative choices and unacceptable risk, without defaulting to maximum restriction.
Comfortable operating with ambiguity, including where a function’s structure and reporting lines are still being defined.
A systems-builder mindset focused on building processes and playbooks that empower teams beyond your personal involvement.
Motivated by the scale of the problem rather than the scale of the team.
Nice to have Experience introducing younger-audience safeguards into an existing product, such as age assurance, parental controls or filtered communication.
Experience partnering with policy, legal or compliance functions to translate requirements into product decisions.
Experience building or scaling a new function or team from the ground up.
An established external profile: speaking, publishing, standards bodies or regulator engagement.
Background in games, entertainment or another consumer platform serving a young or family audience.
Hybrid Working: This role is based in our London office. Our hybrid working policy is three days a week in the office.
