The role Fatshark is seeking an experienced Character Artist for the development of a new unannounced title! As a member of the Character Art Team, you will help us in creating gritty and believable characters and creatures, developing our pipeline, and integrating content into the engine. You have a passion for character art and are always on the lookout for how characters can be pushed to the next level while applying your skills in high-poly sculpting, modeling, texturing, as well as hair grooming. As a senior member of our team, you will be expected to contribute at a more advanced level, whilst also guiding and mentoring less experienced colleagues.

You should have a portfolio showcasing compelling characters that demonstrate strong fundamentals in anatomy, sculpting, and texturing. You possess a strong understanding of the technical side of character art and know how to deliver characters that meet our high artistic and technical standards. Having excellent communication skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to collaborate in a team environment is a must.

At Fatshark, all members of the team are involved in decision-making. We are a small enough team to be agile, but big enough to realize great ideas together. In this highly creative environment, collaboration is key. It’s crucial that independence and the ability to manage one s own time efficiently is paired with strong teamwork skills.

What you ll do Model characters and creatures, texturing and implementing into the game Work closely with the Concept Team Art Director to make sure that the characters match our visual style and quality Collaborate with production to coordinate tasks to ensure we are progressing according to milestones and overall project goals Actively improve skill set and abilities by staying on top of industry trends and techniques, evaluating competitive products, learning new software packages and traditional art methods Create and maintain documentation as needed Oversee and implement assets from outsourcing Help guide and mentor less experienced colleagues Required qualifications 3+ years of production experience as a 3D Character Artist working on AA/AAA projects Proficiency in industry standard software such as Maya, Photoshop, ZBrush, Substance Painter Marvelous Designer Ability to craft high-quality 3D characters, with a great understanding of efficient UV layout, PBR pipeline, 3D topology and engine parameters/optimizations Strong time management, organization, and prioritization skills Good communication and interpersonal skills Deep understanding of scale, anatomy, proportions, visual weight, materials, design, color light Bonus qualifications Professional experience working with Unreal Engine Technical experience with shaders, rigging or scripting Cloth physics experience 1 shipped AA/AAA title as a Character Artist What we offer A playful, friendly and inclusive workplace Opportunities for personal growth with varied projects, experienced co-workers and recurring hack weeks/days Regulated flex time and paid overtime Occupational pension Health benefits and health check ups Bonus program Relocation package for international talent Parties, social events and team-building activities Dog-friendly office located in central Stockholm Application details We have a policy of working 4 days in the office per week, with 1 day optional to work from home.
