Role Overview
We’re looking for a Lead Level Designer to own the vision, quality, and end-to-end level design process across one or more casual games. You’ll lead and mentor a team of level designers while staying hands-on with level creation, from concept and prototyping through playtesting, iteration, and final polish.
Working closely with Art, Product, Development, Tech Art, and Engineering, you’ll use player feedback and game data to improve the player experience, establish effective design processes and best practices, and help evolve the tools and workflows that enable the team to create great levels.
Key Responsibilities
Own the vision and quality of level design across one or more casual titles.
Lead, mentor, and support a team of level designers—guiding their creative work and helping them grow.
Drive the full level design process from concept to final polish, ensuring levels are engaging, balanced, and in line with business and design goals.
Set standards, best practices, and pipelines for level creation, playtesting, and iteration.
Partner closely with art, product, and development teams to define feature requirements, tools, and production needs.
Analyze game data and feedback to identify trends, opportunities, and pain points—using this insight to inform decisions.
Promote rapid prototyping, playtesting, and feedback-driven iteration while contributing ideas and improvements to new and existing projects.
Collaborate with tech artists and engineers to improve and expand level design tools.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
5+ years of experience in game design, with at least 1 year in a lead or senior role.
Experience designing levels for games.
A deep understanding of player psychology, pacing, challenge, and reward systems.
Solid experience working with Unity and basic knowledge of Excel or other balancing tools.
Experience in prototyping with AI tools, such as Claude and Gemini.
Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
Experience mentoring or managing other designers is a strong plus.
Fluent in English (spoken and written).
