We are looking for a Senior Technical Sound Designer to join our digital game team at Wizards of the Coast. This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work from home. The potential home studio for this role is Renton, WA.
What You’ll Do
Design and develop features, tools, and workflows that align with the game’s creative vision and enhance production efficiency, in collaboration with the Audio Director and key stakeholders.
Partner with cross-discipline technical experts to streamline processes, improve integration, and elevate overall product quality.
Collaborate with game engineers to implement scalable and reliable audio pipelines that support production at all stages.
Optimize audio assets and development workflows to meet the evolving technical and creative needs of the project.
Identify and troubleshoot issues across disciplines, providing clear technical solutions and support to team members.
Author and maintain documentation outlining workflows, standards, and best practices for consistency and knowledge sharing.
Work closely with QA teams to investigate, escalate, and track audio-related bugs, ensuring timely resolution of critical issues.
Proactively monitor and address performance and memory challenges, maintaining audio quality and player immersion without compromising efficiency.
Create audio content when required, applying strong sound design skills and proficiency with both commercial and proprietary tools.
Stay current with emerging audio technologies and innovations, translating them into technical direction and motivation for the audio team and project.
What You’ll Bring
5+ years of combined experience in the game industry as a Technical Sound Designer, deep familiar workflows as a Sound Designer, all contributing to high-quality game audio experiences.
Proficient with AAA game engines, on the current pulse of emerging audio technology with a strong command of audio implementation and integration workflows/
Advanced expertise in MetaSound and Wwise, including setup, optimization, and troubleshooting within complex game environments.
Experience with Unreal Engine, Blueprint scripting, and engine tools that support large scale audio implementation and authoring.
Proven experience designing and developing custom audio workflows and tools to enhance production efficiency.
Highly collaborative, with a demonstrated ability to partner effectively across departments and foster a strong team dynamic.
Comfortable with scripting and level design tools, and well-versed in end-to-end game development pipelines across disciplines.
Self-driven and proactive problem-solver, adaptable to feedback and capable of responding quickly to evolving project needs.
Excellent communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly convey technical and creative concepts.
What Sets You Apart
Familiarity with coding or scripting (e.g., C++, Python, C#, or similar) is a plus
Passion for video games and strong understanding of game audio industry.
Experience in larger AAA games and the phases of development
